A Labor of Love at Wrangell Mountain Homestead

When we first set foot on this land, it wasn’t the postcard perfect homestead you might imagine. The cabins were weathered, the lodge silent, and the trails overgrown. Ten years of neglect had left its mark. But beneath the dust and peeling paint, we saw something worth saving.

This place once welcomed 120 people at its peak, alive with footsteps, laughter, and stories carried on the Alaskan wind. Today it’s just the four of us, one family with sleeves rolled up and hearts full, working every day to breathe life back into these buildings and this land.

Every board we mend, every trail we clear, every stubborn nail we pry loose is done with purpose. Some cabins are beyond repair, and letting them go is bittersweet. Others we restore piece by piece, bringing them back to life with patience and care. It’s hard work, the kind that leaves you bone tired at night, but it’s also deeply rewarding. We’re not just fixing cabins. We’re reviving a piece of Alaska’s history.

When you stay with us, you become part of that story. You’re not just booking a room or a cabin, you’re helping us write the next chapter of this homestead. We know it may not be perfect yet. Some edges are still rough, and some projects are still waiting their turn. But every stay, every guest, every kind word reminds us why we’re doing this.

Thank you for believing in this place. Thank you for seeing its potential. And thank you for helping us rebuild not just a property, but a dream, one stay at a time.
